The concept of Dynamic Coalitions and a number of coalitions were established as a result of the first IGF meeting in Athens. These coalitions are informal, issue-specific groups consisting of stakeholders that are interested in the particular issues.
All Dynamic Coalitions allow collaboration of anyone interested in contributing. These groups gather academics and representatives of governments, and members of the civil society interested in participating on the debates and engaging in the coalitions works.
The requirements for formulating a Dynamic Coalition:
To formulate a dynamic coalition it is suggested that the initiators first hold a meeting and express the needs for creating such coalition. They are required to make a written statement which should outline:
- The necessity of creating the dynamic coalition
- An Action Plan
- A mailing list
- The contact person
- Representatives from at least three mutistakeholder groups
It is also recommended to illustrate the support of stakeholder bodies in creating the dynamic coalition. Whilst not compulsory, setting up a webpage or a blog is highly recommended.
If you are intending to create a dynamic coalition please send your statement and your request to the IGF secretariat at
